BASEBALL HOPS UP THREE SPOTS TO #14 IN NAIA

Dahlonega, Ga. – After a 11-6 win over Montreat College and a three game sweep against Shorter College, North Georgia College & State University is now ranked 14th in the latest NAIA baseball rankings.

The Saints defeated their opponents last week by a score of 52-22 in four games, an average of 13 runs per game. North Georgia is averaging almost 10 runs per game and the pitching staff is limiting opponents to a mere 3.8 runs per game. With the sweep of Shorter, the Saints locked up the second seed in the Southern States Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament. North Georgia posted a 24-9 record in SSAC games and swept five out of 11 conference series this year.

The top five in the nation remained in their top spots this week with Embry-Riddle University taking 582 votes and 22 first place votes to take the number one ranking. Conference rival Lee University kept its sixth place spot with a 53-9 overall record and 492 points.

Three new teams moved into the rankings this week as Jamestown, Flagler, and Oklahoma Baptist took the 20th, 24th, and 25th spots respectively. Lyon College took a tumble after going 1-3 last week and dropping from the seventh spot all the way down to 23rd in the nation.
