Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University senior Kevin Bulger is the second pick in the 25th round by the Kansas City Royals in this years Major League Baseball draft.

Bulger, a 6-4, 195 pound shortstop and pitcher from Snellville, Ga., batted .352 with seven home runs and had a 2.92 ERA with 33 strikeouts on the mound for the Saints. Starting in 69 games for North Georgia this season and appearing on the hill in 11 games, Bulger ranked in the top five in 11 batting categories and lead the team in triples with seven. He posted a 3-0 record as a pitcher in four starts and had three saves.

The 742 overall pick, Bulger is listed as a right handed pitcher on www.mlb.com with a “Quick, strong arm, fairly easy. Hard, down slurve-type curve ball, potential strikeouts pitcher.”

Bulger becomes the second player drafted under sixth year head coach Tom Cantrell from North Georgia. In 2001, the New York Mets drafted Saints infielder Sean Pittman in the 34th round.
