Unrestricted Gifts
These donations are received without donor-imposed restrictions on their use. Unrestricted gifts are very important to NGCSU, because they allow university leaders to direct the gifts to the areas of greatest need. They allow flexibility to respond to emerging needs and adjust to changing circumstances in a dynamic campus community.
Unrestricted funds are allocated annually through a budgeting process that begins with requests from faculty and staff in each department. The university president and senior administrators prioritize the various requests and submit a combined grants request for final approval by trustees of the NGCSU Foundation.
Unrestricted gifts support many important areas of campus life, including:
- Continuing professional development for NGCSU faculty & staff
- Enhancement of classroom teaching resources
- Purchase of new technology for classroom and lab use
- The NGCSU Honors program
- Awards for distinguished teachers and outstanding students
- Student scholarships & research projects
- Student recruitment & retention programs
- The Corps of Cadets and other student organizations/activities
- Career services programs
- Publication of the North Georgia Leader
- Special arts exhibits
- Campus-wide special events
Donors may wish to exercise greater choice in how their donations are used by directing donations for a designated purpose.
