GOLD Program - What is it?

You are probably busy with your new job and new life after NGCSU. That is why there is no cumbersome "formal structure" for planning a GOLD event.

Just bring your good ideas, and we can help you network.

Any GOLD member can attend the monthly planning meetings held by local Area Coordinators.

GOLD members...

  • Suggest ideas for functions that may be useful to benefit their own personal or professional interests - you can have the kind of functions YOU want! See samples of event ideas.
  • Take charge and may enlist the help of other GOLD friends to make the event a success.
  • Become the point-of-contact for their own event and see it to completion.
  • Have the freedom to continue helping plan events or sit out for a while.
  • Are not obligated to keep "committee" expectations or even steady attendance. This is not a "formal" group. Gold members understand tight schedules and limited windows of opportunity.
  • Work with the Area Coordinator in using the communication resources of NGCSU.
  • For more information, contact a GOLD Area Coordinator.

Area Coordinators are responsible for electronic communication, the usual mode for staying in touch. Area Coordinators...

  • Schedule a convenient time and place for planning meetings.
  • E-mail a notice to all area NGCSU GOLD alumni about when/where the planning meetings will be held.
  • Solicit ideas from meeting attendees.
  • E-mail follow-up planning meeting minutes to report what events will be happening.
  • Area Coordinators are NOT responsible to decide what events the group wants to do. Those decisions belong to the area GOLD alumni!

Find out what "the buzz" is and how soon GOLD may be up and running in your area. For the latest information, send an e-mail to gold@ngcsu.edu or call 706-867-2801.
