Banner Web Page Accessing Problems
| The recommended Web browsers for Banner2000 are Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and Netscape 6.2 or higher versions with 128-bit encryption, although others will work, these are the most efficient. We have received reports of a small number of students experiencing a problem accessing Banner2000 Web. What is the solution? Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or less If you are trying to use any Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 browsers or less to access Banner2000 Web, you need to get the latest free upgrade from Microsoft. WE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS RELEASE. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, you MUST enable the Java and JavaScript to access Banner2000 Web. Here are the instructions:
Note: A setting of "High safety" for Java is recommended. JavaScript is enabled under the "Scripting of Java applets" setting. It is also recommended that you enable the Java VM JIT compiler. Here are the setup instructions:
Note: Enabling of the Java VM JIT compiler is optional. Netscape 4.7 or higher Although Netscape 4.7 will work with Banner2000, we highly recommend you upgrade to Netscape 6.2.3 or higher. If you are using Netscape 4.7, you MUST enable Java and JavaScript to access Banner2000 Web. In order to enable Java and JavaScript, select "Preferences " from the "Edit" menu. Click on the "Advanced" category and make sure the checkboxes "Enable Java" and "Enable JavaScript" are checked. Note: "Enable JavaScript for Mail and News" does NOT need to be checked. Firewalls and Proxy Servers You may experience problems trying to access Banner2000 Web from work if your employer restricts Java and/or JavaScript from being accessed. In addition, if your employer restricts port 2001 (for https:// traffic) you will NOT be able to access Banner2000 web from work. You should now be able to log into the NGCSU WWW Information System! |
