Lab Software Installation Guidelines
- All software installed on computer lab machines must
be site-licensed or licensed for a specific number of
machines in the desired computer lab. For example:
NOC 109 Lab has 31 computers. To have a new software
package installed in this lab, 31 licenses must be purchased.
The Dept of IIT is unable to restrict software on NGCSU
public computer labs to a specific set of NGCSU users.
- The software must be properly licensed by the owner
of the software, which may be a department, IIT or NGCSU.
- All requests will be fullfilled subject to the following
factors: system security, compatibility, performance,
usability, reliability and interference with other installed
software programs.
- The requesting department or instructor must be available for consultation with IIT staff on configuration issues.
- Different versions of the same software are considered separate software installations.
By submitting a software request, you agree
to the following terms and conditions for installing and
removing software:
- You are responsible for testing the software package
after it has been installed in the lab(s) to make sure
it functions and prints the way you expect it to. (Please
make sure you test this in the lab and not on your personal
machine. It may function differently in a lab environment.)
- You are responsible for renewing software installations
each academic year (Fall semester); otherwise the software
may be removed.
- You verify that you are licensed to use the number
of copies indicated in your email or on your spreadsheet.
- You are responsible for arranging the support of the
application and for informing IIT and the users where
they can receive support.
- You agree to send the following items to Katrena Hook,
Dept of IIT, BB&T Bldg. room 312, by the appropriate
deadline:
- A list identifying software title,
version, manufacturer, and number of licenses available
for installation.
- Copy of license for each software title requested.
- Media for each software title requested: Requesting
department should provide IIT with all original (preferred)
or copy of media, which will be kept in the IIT department.
- Software without media: Requesting department should
download and burn to appropriate media or provide
IIT a direct link to the website to download the
software.
- Software that must install from the internet: Requesting
department should provide specific URLs to application.
- Installation and configuration instructions for
each software title requested.
