Banner2000 PIN policies, procedures and problems

1. Purpose:

North Georgia College & State University (NGCSU) encourages student access to information on record through the Internet. Using NGCSU information access products is not only a resource but also a privilege. NGCSU has taken measures to protect such information by assigning each student a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

2. Issuing a PIN:

Initial PIN: NGCSU will initially assign students a PIN. The default PIN will be your birthday in the form of day, month, year. Example: birthday of April 25, 1976 will be equal to a PIN of 250476. Students are prompted the first time they log-in to change their PIN. The PIN may be both alpha and numeric and must be 6 characters (characters are case sensitive). For added security the PIN will expire every 100 days; you will be prompted to change your PIN when this happens. The student may change their PIN at any time and as often as the student wishes. Students are encouraged to maintain their PIN in a safe place and not share their PIN. In the event of a forgotten PIN, the student will be required to request their PIN following the instructions below.

Forgotten PIN: First, from the Banner2000 login screen, enter your Student ID, leave the PIN blank and click on "Forgot PIN." This will display your security question. If you answer the question correctly, you will be logged in and prompted to change your PIN. Second, students may request their PIN via e-mail by clicking here. Third, students may receive their most recently assigned PIN by appearing in person with a picture ID at the IIT Office located in the Education Building, Room 104.

3. PIN Activation:

Active PIN: The PIN is activated for all students upon acceptance and will remain active upon graduation or withdrawal from the university.

Inactive PIN: Only accepted students who never registered and have no Insitutional Academic History will be inactivated. If a student returns to NGCSU, the PIN will be reactivated.

4. Resources Available:

With an active PIN the student may pre-register, register and participate in drop/add. Other information accessible Banner includes academic transcript, addresses, schedule, fee assessment, account summary, grades, Financial Aid, Hope information and more.
