GroupWise -- The Basics
The Main Window

Title Bar - Displays the Name of the Mailbox if other than yourself.
Menu Bar - All features found in the drop down menus from this toolbar.
Tool Bar - Shortcuts to commonly used GroupWise features.
Folder List - Eight folders initially comprise the folder list. Green brackets next to a folder indicate the number of unread items in that folder. Red brackets next to the Trash folder indicate the total number of messages in Trash.
- Mailbox - Displays all messages received in your mailbox.
- Sent Items - Displays all messages sent from your mailbox.
- Calendar - Displays a planner for appointments, notes and tasks scheduled to it.
- Task List - Lists all uncompleted tasks.
- Work in Progress - Stores unfinished messages to be completed at a later date.
- Cabinet - Create folders to organize messages. Think of it as an electronic file drawer.
- Trash - Holds all items you have deleted from your mailbox until you empty the trash.
Items List - Lists all items contained from a highlighted folder in the Folder List.
Proxy - Allows access to another's mailbox once rights have been granted.
Mailbox Size Indicator - Displays the percentage of disk space the items in your mailbox are taking up.
Total Number of Messages - Displays total number of messages found in a folder when you highlight it in the folder list.
E-mail Basics
Creating a New Mail Message

Click File -> New -> Mail or click the Create New Mail icon , on the Toolbar. |

Type the e-mail address in the To: field |

Press Tab and type in a subject for the message in the Subject field. |
| 4. |
Press Tab and type your message in the Message field. |
| 5. |
Click Send to send your message. |
Reading messages
| 1. |
Highlight the Mailbox folder in the folder list. |
| 2. |
Double click the message appearing in the Items List. |
| 3. |
Read message. Click Close to keep in mailbox for later review or click Delete to move message to the Trash folder. |
Replying to messages
| 1. |
From an open message item, click Reply. |
| 2. |
Select reply response, Reply to sender only, or Reply to all (sender and recipients). |
| 3. |
Click OK. |
| 4. |
Type in your response message. |
| 5. |
Click Send. |
Forwarding messages
| 1. |
From an open message item, click Forward. |
| 2. |
Type the e-mail address of the individual you are forwarding the message to in the To: field |
| 3. |
Type in your response message. |
| 4. |
Click Send. |
Deleting messages
| 1. |
From an open message item, click Delete. |
| 2. |
Select between delete options:
Delete sends item to the Trash folder. You can still un-delete and restore items from this folder.
Delete and Empty will remove the item from the system immediaely, and cannot be recovered. Dialogue box will warn you before you Delete and Empty the item. |

From the main mailbox window, right click on any message item and select desired Delete options. |

From the Folder list, right click on the Trash folder. Select Empty Trash. All items are purged at once and cannot be recovered once deleted. |
Address Book

Click on Tools-> Address Book or click the Address Book icon , on the Toolbar. |
| 2. |
Novell Address Book contains every GroupWise user in the mail system. |
| 3. |
Frequent Contacts automatically stores e-mail address for every person you reply or send a message. |
| 4. |
A Personal Address Book will appear with your name and allows you to input your personal contacts. |
