"My experiences with North Georgia have truly been exceptional."

My name is Jayme, alumni of North Georgia College & State University. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biology in 2003, and have since returned to attend the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. My experiences with North Georgia have truly been exceptional. In addition, the location and reputation of the undergraduate Biology Pre-Med and the graduate PT program are remarkable.

From the moment I first stepped on this beautiful campus in the mountains, I felt at home. The breath taking panoramic views can be seen in every class room. At first glance, the town may seem small and uneventful. However, once you realize the perks of living in Dahlonega, you will also be impressed with its simplistic beauty. From the hiking/biking trails, the gorgeous water falls and views of the mountains to the easily accessible Premium Outlets, this school is placed in the heart of Georgia’s finest locations.

The undergraduate program opened many doors for my future with its challenging classes and research opportunities. While taking classes at North Georgia, I had the opportunity to take part in two research projects, both of which are now published. I became a member of a Medical Honor’s Society, which also became useful in my graduate career. The reputation of North Georgia alone, opened doors for me. I worked at a Pharmaceutical Research Company as a Project Coordinator in Atlanta following my graduation. It was a challenging position that gave me the ability to engage in leadership and responsibility. Without my research experience at North Georgia, obtaining this position would have been extremely difficult.

The graduate program is also very impressive. I was thrilled to learn the growth of their Physical Therapy program and the opportunities it provided. I applied in 2005 after learning the growth of the program and was accepted into their first Doctor of Physical Therapy, class of 2009. With the highest average board scores in the area, this program is living up to its reputation. The professors are extremely knowledgeable, professional, supportive and passionate for the Physical Therapy program and its students. The problem based learning system prepares students to become the most educated Physical Therapists. There is no other school I would rather attend for such a challenging program.

The experiences I am gaining now will be carried throughout my career as a Physical Therapist. I now recognize how well prepared I was to take on such a challenging program. This preparation can be attributed to the challenging undergraduate program. I would recommend North Georgia College & State University to anyone interested in pursuing a career in medicine. You will be impressed, as I have been, in the opportunities this school offers. Without a doubt, I have never regretted my decision of choosing North Georgia for undergraduate or graduate school.
