We get many requests for information about teacher certification from people who already hold bachelors
degrees. It would be very helpful if you would read through the information before requesting an
appointment to meet with someone.

Length of Program:
The Alternative Certification Program for students with a four year degree is a one year commitment. Students are required to be in face to face class typically taught one night per week. In addition, students also participate in online classes that run concurrently with the face to face classes. All students will participate in practicum that will occur during the year. Students will also participate in a 15 week internship. Post-baccalaureate students will receive Professional Learning Unit credit for classes taken except those taken for additional content.
Additional Content:
College transcripts are evaluated by content professors to assure that each student's initial degree is correlated to the education certification which the student is seeking. If a student is lacking in content, the student is required to complete the content prior to being admitted to the Post-baccalaureate Program.
Cost of the Program:
The cost of the program is $6,000 which includes all books and technology fees as well as program fees. This cost does not include additional content classes if needed.

If you wish additional information or to contact these
people, please email them first. Many questions can be answered this way and it is a good way to
make appointments. Because our undergraduate programs are school-based and our graduate programs are
taught in the evening, it is not always easy to reach faculty by phone or by dropping in. All of the
faculty members above have school supervision appointments in the morning, and at least one night class.
You can also find information about graduate admissions
here. Mrs. Anita Roush, the admissions officer for teacher education Post-Baccalaureate can also answer many questions
about admissions issues. You can contact her by email at ajroush@ngcsu.edu, or reach the office at 706 864-1533.
