Certification Instructions

THE GEORGIA PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COMMISSION
CERTIFICATION APPLICATION PACKET

NGCSU INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE CERTIFICATION PACKET
READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING

1. Complete the entire Georgia PSC Certification Application, all three pages.
2. Complete the PSC Approved Recommendation Form, first three lines only, stopping with your date of birth. (These forms are on the PSC website: www.gapsc.com )
3. Complete the Certification Demographics page.
4. If you have taken courses for college credit, complete the Transcript Request Form, marking the “delivery destination” as Teacher Certification.

OTHER DOCUMENTATION THAT MUST ACCOMPANY THIS PACKET IF NOT ON THE PSC CERTIFICATION CHANNEL:

1. PRAXIS I/GACE
2. PRAXIS II/GACE (complete copy, front and back)
3. All PLU/SDU Course Completion Forms
4. Computer Competency Certificate if you satisfied using the “test-out” option

SEND THE ENTIRE PACKET TO THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE.
They will issue an official transcript, stamp the college seal, and forward your packet to the Teacher Education Department.
FEES
If this is NOT your first clear-renewable certificate, the PSC will charge a $20.00 fee.  If you are employed, you may submit the Georgia PSC Employer Assurance Form (in this packet and on the PSC website) signed by the county superintendent or central office designee to exempt the fee.  This form may be sent directly to the PSC via mail or electronically by the county office.

WHEN YOUR PACKET HAS BEEN CERTIFIED BY NGCSU…
If you have been offered a job and your system wants to mail this packet in for you, YOU MUST FOLLOW ALL OF THE ABOVE STEPS.   Include a self-addressed envelope (postage is not necessary) and we will mail it to you to take to your county office.  We cannot mail your packet to the county office.  We mail it to you and you take it to them.  If your packet does not include the self-addressed envelope, we mail directly to the PSC.  After about two weeks, you can track the status of your certification on the PSC website.

FYI…

1. ESOL, Gifted, Reading, TSS, Math and IS endorsements do not require PRAXIS II/GACE scores.
2. The Georgia PSC Experience Verification Form (in this packet and on the PSC website) is only necessary for candidates seeking the Teacher Support Services (TSS) and Educational Leadership endorsement.

WE DO NOT PROCESS ANY PSC APPROVED PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION FORMS WITHOUT THE PSC APPLICATION FORM, AND ALL NECESSARY TRANSCRIPTS OR PLU COURSE COMPLETION FORMS ATTACHED!
