Hope Teacher Scholarship loans are for graduate students in
critical shortage fields. Information on these
service-cancelable loans is available from the Georgia
Student Finance Commission. (http://www.gsfc.org/GSFA/SCL/dsp_teacher_scholarship.cfm)
Applications are available on line from the above web site,
normally in late May or early June. Students receiving this
scholarship are normally reimbursed for summer school
expenses, and receive financial aid allocations in fall and
winter.
Applicants should be aware that:
They must be regularly, not provisionally, accepted into
graduate school to be eligible.
They must be fully admitted to teacher education if they are
seeking an initial certificate along with the master’s
degree.
HOPE is available only for a degree, not for a certification
program without a degree.
We must certify the number of hours required for program
completion. That means you must have a complete program of
study, so see your advisor to obtain a copy before you turn
in the HOPE application.
Ms. Chris Parker (706 864-1852) coordinates the HOPE
application process with financial aid. You turn your forms
in to her first, she completes the portion required of
Teacher Education and she forwards them to Financial
