Welcome to Joe Morgan's Web Page
Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice

Excavation of a homicide victim in the
wetlands of
south Louisiana.
Welcome to my website. My name is Joseph Morgan and I am an
Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at North Georgia College and
State University. Prior to coming to NGCSU I was the Senior
Investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office in
Atlanta, Georgia. Previous to my tenure at FCMEO, I was a Forensic
Investigator with the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office in New Orleans,
La.
In 1999 I became the 24th person nationally to become a Board
Registered Diplomate of the American Board of Medicolegal Death
Investigators and subsequently I attained Board Certified Fellow status
in 2002. I hold a Master of Forensic Sciences from National University
in LaJolla, Ca., Bachelor of Science Degree in Management with a minor
in Biology
from National-Louis University in Evanston, Ill., and an
Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Delgado
Community College in New Orleans, La..
Presently, I am working on my Doctoral Degree at A.T. Still University School of
Health Science with a research emphasis in “Curriculum Effectiveness in
Medicolegal Death Investigation Training Environments”. My other areas of
research interest include professional performance of coroners and medical
examiner investigators, the affects of notification of next of kin upon public
safety officials and post secondary forensic curriculum development.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I served in the Army National
Guard in the States of Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana as an
Intelligence NCO.
With heightened public interest in forensic science it is easy to
define forensics according to standards set by Hollywood. With this
idea in mind, I have provided links to learn more about REAL forensic
practice and graduate education opportunities.
My office is located in:
BB & T Bank Building, 3rd floor, room 329

“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will
not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius
will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not;
the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination
alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will
solve the problems of the human race.”
