Southern
Printmaking Biennale

Selected from entries submitted from across
the United States by juror Matt Egan, Assistant Professor
of Art at East Carolina University and winner of the 2006
Southern Printamking Biennale, this exhibition displays the
range of techniques, methods, and technologies used by some
of the most innovative printmakers at work ioday. Egan will
talk about the exhibition on Thursday, September 18 at 6:30
in Hoag Auditorium.

Pathways: emerging voices in contemporary art

by art critic Jerry Cullum, 4:30 pm
Featuring artists currently enrolled in and
recent graduates of Master of Fine Arts programs from universities
in the Southeast, Unmarked Pathways presents innovative
displays of traditional art media and concept-based installations
mingling painting, sculpture, prints, collage, ceramics, textiles,
photography, and video.. Jerry Collum, acclaimed Atlanta art
critic and founder of Art Papers, will speak on the place and impact of these emerging
artists and their work on Saturday, October 25 at 4:30 pm
in Hoag Auditorium.

Student Exhibition, curated by Emily Stephens and
Meredith
Short

Introduced in 2007 and an instant favorite,
this show is both organized and features art by current students
in the Studio Art, Art Marketing, and Art Education programs
at NGCSU. Seniors Emily Stephens and Meredith Short demonstrate
their organizational skills acting as curators of the exhibition.

Focus
on Appalachian Art: Trends in Contemporary Pottery
Reception, 1/15, 5 - 6:30 pm; Artist talk,
6:30 pm
In our annual acknowledgment of our rich
artistic heritage and the continuing contribution of Southern
Appalachian artists, this exhibition is dedicated to pottery.
Works in the show both pay homage to the functional role of
pottery and its designation as a craft and point out some
of the new roles ceramics play as decorative art and sculpural
forms. A discussion of trends in contemporary pottery will
be held on Thursday, January 15 at 6:30 pm in Hoag Auditorium.

Art Educators and their Students,

This juried exhibition showcases outstanding two-dimensional art in a variety of media by art teachers
of merit throughout the state of Georgia and their most
talented students. The show is an annual favorite, attracting
members of the univeristy and surrounding communities alike
to see the talent displayed by these artists, novice and
seasoned, of all ages.

you to this annual celebration of the best paintings,
drawings, prints, graphic designs, photographs, ceramics,
textiles, and weavings by NGCSU art students. The
juried show will culminate in a reception where exhibition
awards will be presented and art scholarships for
the 2008/2009 academic year will be announced.
