College to bring MBA program to Cumming city hall

CUMMING — North Georgia College & State University plans to start a master of business administration degree program in August at Cumming City Hall.

The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents approved the business program last spring based on a growing need in the region for a graduate-level business program.

"We ... look forward to providing additional programs in the future that benefit the work force of our Northeast Georgia region," North Georgia President David Potter said. "We are grateful for the support of our Cumming partners in this new venture."

The NGCSU Foundation has signed a three-year lease agreement with the city for use of the top floor of City Hall.

Students who enroll in the program can expect to earn their degrees in 20 to 24 months.

Max Burns, who started as the school’s dean of the Mike Cottrell School of Business on Feb. 1, has been charged with developing the program.

Burns, who has served one term in the U.S. House from Georgia’s 12th District, which includes Savannah, was a senior policy adviser in Washington before arriving at North Georgia.
