DAHLONEGA – A group of computer students at North Georgia College and State University joined the search for missing adventurer Steve Fossett... without leaving Dahlonega.

Seventy students in Holly Payne's class searched a 600-square-mile area for the missing aviator, using database technology and Google Earth's satellite imagery.

Payne, a computer science instructor, says they may not have found Fossett's plane, but the class learned about image databases and how they change people's lives.

Fossett has been missing since his plane went down in the Nevada desert on Labor Day.
