FEATURED FALL MUSIC EVENT: The Chamber Orchestra Kremlin will perform at North Georgia College & State University at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Nov. 6 in Memorial Hall. The Moscow-based orchestra has earned national and international recognition as one of Russia's leading ensembles. The concerts are free and open to the public.

DISTINGUISHED MILITARY STUDENTS: North Georgia College & State University recognized six distinguished military students at a formal ceremony in October. The university’s 600-member corps stood on the parade grounds during a pass-in-review ceremony, honoring senior students who are in the top tier of their academic and leadership studies. The six cadets honored are (front row, l to r) Cadet 1st Lt. Joseph Miller of Warner Robins, Cadet Capt. Elic Colwell of Griffin, Cadet Maj. Adam Greene of Mars Hill, N.C., (back row) Cadet 1st Lt. Christopher Watkins of Molena, Cadet Maj. Wendell Ainslie of Madison and Cadet Capt. Stephen White of Marietta.  The six cadets are in the top one-third of the professor of military science Order of Merit List, top one-half of their academic class, and the top one-half of their ROTC class.

Ludlow Porch performing Oct. 16 at the university

Ludlow Porch, a radio personality for more than 25 years and author of 13 best-selling humor books, will perform at North Georgia College & State University on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Gloria Shott Auditorium.

Porch has appeared on Nashville Now, The Mike Douglas Show, BBC television, C-Span, CBS Radio and starred in two television specials. The life-long humorist was even named one of the top five trivia players in the world. He is featured in the recent PBS production “Lost Atlanta” and nominated to the Radio Hall of Fame.

There will be a book-signing after the show. Dahlonega Friends of the Library is co-sponsoring the event with NGCSU.

Cadet leader congratulated
Former NGCSU Commandant of Cadets and four-term mayor of Dahlonega T. Haines Hill congratulates Jonathan Robinson, the Brigade Commander of the Corps of Cadets at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega. Both Hill and Robinson are from Thomaston, Ga. They are standing next to the "Freedom’s Vigil" monument at the Memorial on campus, a series of monuments dedicated to NGCSU students and alumni who have lost their lives in military service.
