Local residents named to President's List at NGCSU DAHLONEGA – For their academic performances during spring semester 2004, 296 students were named to the North Georgia College & State University President’s List. Students achieving a 4.0 grade point average and carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester are placed on the President’s List.

Local residents named to Dean's List at NGCSU DAHLONEGA – For their academic performances during spring semester 2004, the following students were named to the Dean’s List at North Georgia College & State University. Students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or better carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester are placed on the Dean’s List.

Forsyth mom and daughter graduate from college together
DAHLONEGA – A mother and daughter of Cumming, Ga., shared a milestone in their lives on May 8. Treva Joyce Moeller received her bachelor’s degree and her daughter Treva Kaye Moeller received her master’s degree from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega. Both women earned degrees in early childhood education. “My daughter inspired me to go back to school,” Joyce
Moeller said. At North Georgia the mother and daughter didn’t take any classes together but did have some of the same professors. “We compared grades,” Joyce Moeller admitted. “I think that made us both work a lot harder.” The hard work resulted in the two graduating with academic honors this month. Joyce Moeller has accepted a teaching position at
Cumming Elementary School. Kaye Moeller is currently a teacher at Chestatee
Elementary School. |

NGCSU graduates 544 students during spring commencement DAHLONEGA – North Georgia College & State University awarded 465 graduate and undergraduate degrees during the May 8, 2004, commencement. There were 79 students who received associate’s degrees in nursing.

U.S. Rep. Norwood speaks to graduates
DAHLONEGA – North Georgia College & State University graduated more than 540 students on May 8 in two ceremonies. U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood, representing Georgia's 9th district, spoke to the graduates and to 20 students commissioning as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army at an earlier ceremony. “I want to challenge each of you to make the most of your respective lives and to invest [yourselves] wisely and honorably,” Norwood told the graduating college students. “You have to be the best you can be.” “The greatest cultural treasure we hand off to you today is freedom. It is also your greatest protection. Use it, love it, protect it, nourish it,” Norwood told them. Students graduated with associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. More than 130 degree recipients graduated with honors, achieving a 3.5 grade point average or higher. Eight students were designated as distinguished military graduates. |
