Recordings SPAN 2002

  1. Based on the readings in Chapter 7 and on class discussions record a short speech (3 minutes) pretending to be a politician running for office for the “Green Party”.  Give suggestions on how to protect the environment keeping in mind the vocabulary and grammar structures covered in the chapter.

  2. Imagine that you and your partner are businessmen (women) from a South American country.  You have to make a presentation at a business convention and talk about how the economy is today in South America, why things are getting better there now for investors, and the job opportunities that both countries can share.  As before use the vocabulary, grammar structures, and content from the chapter.

  3. Watch the Frida Kahlo movie, read the assignment on the book, and make a brief recording with your reaction to this fascinating character.

  4. Sexism in language?  Read the article on pages 184-185 and in pairs respond and comment on activities 6 and 7 on page 186.  Your recording should include your responses and comments on all points.

  5. You will be given a stance on whether you are in favor or against the legalization of marihuana.  You will do the readings assigned and whatever research you need to do to support your position.  Your recording should be between 1 ˝ to 2 minutes. Once everyone has recorded their standpoint we will have a class debate.

  6. After going over the readings for the chapter and having had enough class discussion on the topic of Spanish in the US, I want you to go “wild” and write a short poem in “Spanglish” and record it.  We will share this poems with the rest of the class
