Dr. Gordon E. McNeer

Associate Professor of Spanish
Dr. McNeer is of Mexican-American descent.
His mother was born in Sonora, Mexico, in the year
of the Mexican Revolution. He earned his B.A. in
Spanish and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Romance Languages
from Princeton University. He has taught on the
faculties of Princeton University, the University of
Florida, the University of California {Berkeley} and
Agnes Scott College. He has worked and studied in
Germany and Spain and he has visited Mexico and
Guatemala on many occasions. His area of
specialization is in the Spanish lyric tradition,
with a concentration in 20th century peninsular
Spanish poetry. He is the Director of the Studies
Abroad program in Santander, Spain.
