The Staff Awards program began in Spring 2005 to promote the contributions of NGCSU staff members on campus and established the Outstanding Staff Member of the Year award and the Employee of the Month award.

Outstanding Staff Member of the Year

This award is given annually to a staff member who staff member who best demonstrates the qualities of leadership, exceptional service, and commitment to the university. The Staff Awards Committee (a standing committee of Staff Council) will seek nominations from staff and faculty in selecting the recipient for this award which will be awarded at the Fall Convocation. A plaque showing each year’s recipient will be displayed on campus. In addition to a personal plaque, the recipient will receive a cash award to be used during the year for professional or career development.

Employee of the Month

This award is given monthly to recognize NGCSU employees (either from the faculty or staff) for the times that they contribute that ‘extra something’ on their job. The winners of this award will receive a gift certificate from the Campus Connection bookstore, a gift certificate from Aramark for campus dining or Canteen, certificate from the NGCSU President and recognition on the NGCSU Web site. The award is not the same as and does not disqualify the employee for the Outstanding Staff Member Award or Distinguished Professor Award.
