Employee of the Month - December 2007

James Webb (Jim) is the manager of the Information Security group. Jim's sense of innovation and tenacity is primarily responsible for achieving several, technology-related goals aimed to protect our campus and provide for our students. When Jim began as the Network Security Officer, he migrated the campus to a stronger anti-virus product, installed an affordable and robust firewall, and played a major role installing our email spam filter a few years ago and our recently-added gray-listing architecture. Jim continues to demonstrate an active commitment to the the students' collective best interest. He carefully chooses maintenance windows to only affect service at "dead" hours such as times between midnight and 5am on weekends. Over the years he has willingly took the initiative to install and accept administration of server's such as the bookstore's point of sale system and the library Ezproxy server. These projects benefit the campus by respectively allowing the bookstore to safely do more business and extending the library's virtual resources such as e-books and journals to NGCSU students and employees located off campus. For Jim's unwavering dedication to the campus, commitment to extraordinary service and outstanding professional standards, he was named the NGCSU Employee of the Month for December 2007.
