North Georgia College and State University (NGCSU) is committed to student success and the Early Alert/Early Intervention (EA/EI) program is an essential part of that commitment. The EA/EI program is intended to promote student engagement and help students reach their goal of completing their college degree in a timely fashion. It is designed for students who have earned 0-60 credit hours (i.e., freshmen and sophomores) and who are exhibiting certain risk factors for not succeeding academically, which include:

•  missing several class meetings during the first month of a semester;
•  repeated attempts to submit assigned work late;
•  inappropriate behavior in class (e.g., sleeping, disruptive);
•  frequent referrals to the Writing Lab or to the Math Tutorial Center with no performance improvement by the student; and
•  apparent danger of not passing the course.

Instructors are encouraged to refer students at the first sign(s) of difficulty so that students can receive the assistance they need to do well in their courses and adapt to the University's learning environment. Students will receive notice of referrals via NGCSU email (Academic Referral <my_grade@raven.ngcsu.edu>). Students must check their NGCSU email regularly to ensure they respond to referrals appropriately.
