Students who plan to take all of their NGCSU classes on the Gainesville State College campus should consider attending this INTRO session. Only advisors for programs taught on the Gainesville State College campus will be available at the Gainesville INTRO. The Business programs are evening programs for part-time students. Full-time students in these programs should expect to take some day classes in Dahlonega (and should attend one of the Dahlonega INTRO sessions). The Gainesville INTRO session will not provide the information students planning to take classes in Dahlonega will need; therefore, students planning to take classes in Dahlonega should consider attending one of the INTRO sessions scheduled in Dahlonega.

- Gain answers to questions
- Meet with an academic advisor
- Register for classes for Fall semester
- Learn how to determine where classes will meet

If you are planning to attend:
- Complete the online Registration (for the session being held on the Gainesville State College campus), and pay the $15.00 orientation program fee. This must be done no later than July 21, 2008. Early registration is encouraged so that your advisor will have time to review your record and be prepared to help you select classes for Fall semester. This session is limited to new students; additional guests cannot be accommodated.
- If you have been advised that you need to take the COMPASS exam, please call Ms. Melissa Lach, Secretary, Learning Support Programs, (706) 864-1433 to schedule an appointment for the exam, which must be completed prior to attending the INTRO.
- If you are a transfer student and are currently completing work at another college, please request that an official copy of your final transcript from that college be sent directly to NGCSU Office of Admissions. Also, please bring a copy of your most recent transcript (unofficial or downloaded is acceptable) with you to INTRO so that your advisor can see your most recent coursework. [If you are taking summer classes at another school, NGCSU will probably not have your final transcript by the time this INTRO session is scheduled.]

If you decide not to attend:
- Your first opportunity for advising and registration will be August 19, 2008. NGCSU’s BANNER System opens for registration at 7:30 a.m. The location and availability of advisors depends on your program of study.
- If you have been advised that you need to take the COMPASS exam, you still need to call Ms. Melissa Lach, Secretary, Learning Support Programs, (706) 864-14332857 to schedule an appointment for the exam, which must be completed prior to meeting with your advisor.
- If you are currently completing work at another college, you still need to request that an official copy of your most recent transcript from that college be sent directly to NGCSU Office of Admissions. In addition, due to the short time between the end of Summer semester at some schools and the start of Fall semester at NGCSU, you may still need a copy of your most recent transcript (unofficial of downloaded is acceptable) for advising on August 19.
- You will need to obtain your parking permit and student ID card from the appropriate offices on the Gainesville State College campus during the first week of classes; questions related to admissions and financial aid should be directed to the appropriate offices on the main NGCSU campus in Dahlonega.
Important information for all students:
If you have questions concerning your admissions or transfer status, please refer to the Office of Undergraduate Admission website at http://www.ngcsu.edu and go to Admissions/Enrollment. If you have questions concerning this orientation (INTRO) session, please contact the Christy Orr at 678-717-3875.
NGCSU does not print and mail bills for tuition and fees. Students must access their BANNER accounts to view their bill. Payment can be made on line, by check payable to NGCSU and mailed to the NGCSU Business Office, or by credit card. Each semester NGCSU sets a deadline for payment of fees. If fees are not received by the deadline, the scheduled courses are dropped. Students dropped from courses due to non-payment may reregister for courses during open registration at the beginning of the semester—subject to capacity restrictions.
Students in programs on the Gainesville State College campus have two e-mail accounts and should check each regularly. NGCSU uses the NGCSU e-mail system as the official method of communication with students. This includes such general communications as registration dates and payment deadlines and communication specific to an individual student such as messages from the Registrar concerning a student’s individual plan of study. The University Center at Gainesville State College, the office that provides administrative support for NGCSU classes on the Gainesville State College campus, uses the Gainesville State College e-mail system for official communications related to NGCSU programs on the Gainesville campus.
