Costs and Scholarships

You can afford North Georgia!

The June 2004 Consumer Digest ranked North Georgia College & State University as the 5th Best College Buy in the Nation! We are far less expensive than any other Senior Military College. There are many financial aid, scholarship, and military programs available specifically for North Georgia Cadets.

Studying HardWhat will it cost?

Based on costs for in-state and out-of-state students for 2009-2010 the academic year- tuition, room, meals, fees, books, deposits, and uniforms is approximately $13,500 freshmen year, and $11,500 for each of your sophomore, junior, and senior years. For itemized costs, click here.

Georgia Residents:

If you are a Georgia State resident you receive a grant of up to $1,500 per year through your junior year just for participating in the Corps of Cadets. If you sign an agreement to commission as an Army lieutenant after you graduate, the grant doubles to up to $3,000 per year. If you are HOPE eligible, you receive an additional $5,000 that can be subtracted from your total cost to attend. You also receive $265 from the federal government to help offset the costs of uniforms each year. These benefits alone reduce the cost of your first year in college from $13,500 to $6,735!

Out-of-State Residents:

You pay in-state tuition for participating in the Corps of Cadets! The savings to you is approximately $9,300 per year, or about $37,000 over a 4 year period.

Contracting:

There is no obligation to join the military if you are in the Corps of Cadets. However, if you want to become an Army Officer, and you meet the eligibility requirements, then you can contract with ROTC at the start of your Sophomore year. This means that you can sign an agreement with the Secretary of the Army to commission as an Army lieutenant when you graduate from North Georgia. You then receive contract pay of $350 a month sophomore year, $450 a month junior year, and $500 a month senior year!

Cadets and CiviliansStill think you can't afford it?

If you want to serve your country in uniform while at college earning your bachelor's degree, then consider joining the Guard or Reserve. We are the only university in the country with a drilling Guard and Reserve unit on our campus! In-state residents are encouraged to join the Georgia Army National Guard, and out-of-state students are encouraged to join the US Army Reserve. Hundreds of our Cadets are in the Guard or Reserve. Pay and benefits you receive while in the Guard or Reserve will not only pay your entire way through college, but you make thousands more than the cost to attend.

LTC Grimes

"You quickly find out that the challenges of leadership and discipline are very real from Day One in the military. North Georgia provides plenty of opportunity to develop those skills before lives are on the line. Equally important, the camaraderie and fellowship of shared hardships in college continues once you begin your career, only growing stronger to support the tough work of serving in today's military."
