NGCSU Boar's Head Brigade Crest

Why NGCSU?

Why should you choose to attend North Georgia?

Its not just about being a cadet ...

... Its about your success after college!

Here are the top 5 reasons why you should be a cadet at North Georgia!

#5.  It will cost you less than any other Senior Military College and most other four-year universities.  That means you won't have huge loans to repay after college.  Anyone can afford it! Scholarship, Financial Aid, and Army National Guard and Army Reserve Partnership programs can help.

#4.  To improve your physical fitness which will make you happier, help you look good, feel good, and perform better academically.

#3.  You will be a member of the elite and prestigious Boar's Head Brigade:  one of the best Corps of Cadets in the world.

#2.  If you have the desire and qualifications, you can receive a commission as a lieutenant in the US Army after you graduate.  As a lieutenant, you will receive great pay and benefits.

#1.  To learn advanced leadership and management skills that will set you apart from your peers after you graduate. You will be better prepared for your career in law enforcement, government or industry, teaching positions, nursing or other health care professions, or post-graduate programs. This translates into more money and more success for you after college.

Six more reasons why you should become a cadet!

#6.  The Military Department is the only academic department at North Georgia to guarantee you a job as an Army lieutenant after you graduate from college.  If you're qualified, you won't need to look for a job after college.

#5.  You can continue your extra-curricular interests by joining a fraternity, a sorority, or a cadet organization. You will be happy to associate with others who share your interests.

#4.  You will be safe.  Your campus has been rated among the safest college campuses in the US.

#3.  You will live in a beautiful, historic, small town - site of the first major gold rush in the US, near the Chattahoochee National Forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  You may never want to leave.

#2.  You can major in any of 54 bachelors degree programs and receive a leadership minor.

#1.  You have access to a lot of scholarship money if you want to commission as an Army lieutenant after you graduate.

The top four reasons you will be happy in the Corps of Cadets!

#4.  You will be attending a great small public university with relatively small classes.  You won't be just a number.  You will get the best of both worlds:  a normal civilian college experience coupled with a military college experience.

#3. You will develop friendships that will last a lifetime.

#2.  You will be a member of a team.  You will always have your fellow cadets for help and support.

#1.  You will develop a great sense of accomplishment.

"One could never thank NGC Corps of Cadets and College enough. How much I
grew in my 4 years both as a person and an Officer. My daily cadet life and training paid so many dividends for 31 years as I utilized my leadership and fundamentals throughout my career. In addition, my baseball experience will never ever be forgotten with teammates such as Cuyler McKnight and Mike Ash . Thank you."
Brigadier General Phil Mattox, US Army (Retired), NGC Class of 1970.

North Georgia is the site for many exciting events such as the annual National Leadership Conference. The 2006 Leadership Conference focused on the future of military education in relation to the current operational environment of the United States Military. Keynote speakers included Secretary of the Army Dr. Francis J. Harvey, Chief of Staff of the Army General Peter Schoomaker, and Commander of the First Army and Joint Task Force Katrina, Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré. Conferences such as these held on the North Georgia Campus help shape the future of the United States Military. (Pictured to the right is General Schoomaker as he briefs cadets and National Leadership Conference participants.)

Other Reasons:

Why should you consider a commission as a lieutenant in the US Army, National Guard or Reserve?

* A military career will help you succeed throughout your life! Consulting firm Korn/Ferry International, along with the Economist Intelligence Unit, conducted a study in the summer of 2006 that found that former military officers are more likely to rise to the top of American corporations that those who did not serve.

"Without exception, the CEOs interviewed emphasize that the military
offers an early opportunity to acquire hands-on leadership experience
that cannot be found in the corporate world or at a similarly early
stage in people's careers."
- Korn/Ferry International
