Scholarships
There are several scholarships available to qualified individuals
at NGCSU. Choose form the links provided below for more information:
-Army ROTC Scholarships
To help you finance your college years, Army ROTC awards
scholarships available at NGCSU. Army ROTC scholarships pay
tuition, required fees, a monthly stipend ($250 for freshmen,
$300 for sophomores, $350 for juniors, and $400 for seniors)
as well as $900 per year for books. They’re awarded
on merit - like academic achievement, extracurricular activities,
personal interviews, and physical fitness. If you are a non-scholarship
student, you can still receive the stipend as a contracted
cadet during your sophomore to senior years. If you are selected
to receive a scholarship, you will have a commitment to the
Army after completing the program. You can fulfill it by either
serving part time in the Army National Guard, Army Reserve
or full time in the Regular Army.
*For Georgia residents who are eligible for the HOPE Scholarship,
the Army ROTC Scholarship can be applied to room and meals.

through Army Cadet Command in Fort Monroe, Virginia.

-Georgia Military Scholarship
(GMS)
The state of Georgia offers thirty-nine "Full Ride"
scholarships per year to NGCSU.
The scholarship covers all costs of room, meals, tuition,
and fees. It also provides a $375 a semester stipend for books
and supplies.
In addition, those students participating will receive NATIONAL
GUARD pay, GI Bill money, and ARMY ROTC contract pay (upon
contracting at the beginning of the sophomore year), which
equates to about an extra $1000 a month.
In order to be considered for the scholarship, students must
be nominated by their local state legislators. Deadline for
the applications is March 10. Also, students should apply
for admission and be accepted to NGCSU. The Selection Committee
meets in April and scholarships are announced in May.
Effective 15 August 2005, GMS Scholarship recipients
are non-deployable! MG Poythress, Adjutant General for the
State of Georgia, has signed a directive that prohibits the
deployment of GMS recipients as long as they are enrolled
and remain in good standing with NGCSU and the Georgia Army
National Guard.
Scholarship Requirements:
1. Be a resident of Georgia.
2. Receive a nomination by a State Legislator.
3. Have a minimum SAT of 1010, or ACT of 22, and be HOPE Scholarship
eligible.
4. Meet Army National Guard mental and physical standards.
5. Agree to serve as an enlisted member in the Georgia Army
National Guard while a student at NGCSU.
6. Agree to accept a commission upon graduation from NGCSU
and serve four years as a commissioned officer in the Georgia
Army National Guard

-Nursing ROTC
If nursing is your professional goal, there is no better
place to begin your career than Army ROTC at NGCSU. Army ROTC
offers you a unique opportunity to gain practical experience
while you receive financial assistance for college. ROTC enhances
you undergraduate nursing education by providing the unique
leadership and management training, along with the practical
experience needed for success, either in the Army or in a
civilian career.
To help you finance your college years, Army ROTC awards
nursing scholarships available at NGCSU. Army ROTC Nursing
scholarships pay tuition, required fees, $900 for books, and
a monthly stipend. They’re awarded on merit - like academic
achievements, extracurricular activities, and personal interviews.
Scholarship winners receive a stipend ($250 freshman, $250
sophomore, $300 junior and $350 senior) for each academic
month plus an allowance for books and other educational items
for a total of four years. If you are a non-scholarship student,
you can still receive the stipend as a contracted cadet during
your last two years. If you are selected to receive a scholarship,
you will have a commitment to the Army after completing the
program. You can fulfill it by either serving part time in
the Army National Guard, , Army Reserve or full time on active
duty.

-Leadership Scholarships
NGCSU has numerous academic and leadership scholarships that
are only available to members of the Corps of Cadets. Each
of these scholarships average about $1,100 per year. The following
is a list of scholarship opportunities:
Scholarships are available for prospective cadets
who meet the following criteria:
-Freshman and sophomore cadets from Murray, Fannin, Gilmer,
or Lumpkin Counties.
.-Female military student with preference to American Indian
ancestry.
Grade requirements: 3.0 GPA
- Any military student pursuing a baccalaureate degree from
NGCSU.
Grade requirements: 3.5 GPA
- A graduate of Osborne or Marietta High School.
Applicant must be HOPE Scholarship eligible.
Award is $4,000 per year for each of freshman and sophomore
years.
- Military scholarship for "Outstanding ROTC Cadet."
Awards $1,100 per year.
- Students from Barrow and Screven County.
Awards $1,100 per year for 2 years.
- Academically inclined cadet pursuing a commission.
Grade requirements: 2.5 GPA
Awards $1,100 per year.
- Military student, preferably pre-law, scholarship of loan
assistance.
Grade requirements: 2.5 GPA
Awards $1,100 per year.
- Outstanding cadet.
Awards $1,100 per year.
- Undergraduate military student who exhibits a noteworthy
commitment to explore creative challenges of English composition
and who consequently excels in writing.
Grade requirements: 3.0 GPA
- Georgia resident who agrees to serve on active or reserve
duty after graduation and commissioning.
Grade requirements: 2.5 GPA
Awards $1,100 per year (becomes a loan if the recipient does
not commission).
