North Georgia College & State University, nationally
recognized for its leadership development programs, has designed
a J-LEAD program that will provide you with a chance to push
yourself to new limits and accomplish feats you never dreamed
possible.
We want to give you and your fellow command
group officers the opportunity to test your minds and bodies,
and to discover the leader within!

J-LEAD will push you to your limits - mentally
and physically. We will evaluate your group on how well you
accomplish problem-solving and team-building activities. As
you maneuver through obstacle courses and solve problems,
you will learn to trust your teammates in a way you've never
counted on or trusted anyone before.
In addition to getting an invigorating
physical workout, these exercises will help you and other
future leaders develop the skills necessary to excel in college
and beyond. North Georgia cadets who have already accepted
the Challenge will be there to guide you!
Earn College Credit for Participating in J-LEAD!
For participating in J-LEAD you will be eligible to two credits from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The college credits, LEAD 151, Character Education and Community Service, are offered to each participant at the week's activities. The community service-learning project for this course is waived, based upon the intensity of J-LEAD! To receive these credits, J-LEAD participants must complete an additional registration form, a transcript request form, write a two-page post-program critique, and pay an additonal $110 tuition fee. For further information about receiving college credit for J-LEAD participation, contact Jim Rice at ricej2@wjcc.k12.va.us.
Testimonials from J-LEAD participants
and JROTC Instructors:
"Your
program was a great experience for the AFJROTC cadets from
Southeast Halifax High School in North Carolina. It greatly
improved our teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
The cadets from NC-9510 really enjoyed our stay!"
Crystal Graham, Cadet Major
Cadet Squadron Commander
NC-9510, Southeast Halifax High School AFJROTC
"Please convey our thanks to your entire staff - it was a great weekend. You all have a great program at the school - a hidden secret that I will share with others in the future. You all have convinced this Marine that your institution would be an excellenct choice for school. If i were to do it all over again, I certainly would make the North Georgia decision. Again, thanks for everything. Semper Fi!"
Walt Wierzbicki
LTC, USMC (Ret.)
JCHS, Ridgeland High School JROTC
"Thanks for the great leadership experience my 3 cadets had at J-LEAD last week! I polled them on the way back, and each said it was worth every cent (and sore muscle!). Some feedback to the question "what was best about J-LEAD?"
a. The chance to work together as a command team. (Great feedback---that's why I sent them!)
b. The PT.
c. The LRC
d. The chance to get to know and work with cadets from other schools, states, and JROTC programs (another reason I sent them).
Each agreed that the program was superior to the JCLCs they have been to. Two had been to one JCLC, and one had been to two JCLCs...
In sum, great work!"
Colonel G.T. Meyers (Ret.)
Senior Army Instructor
Hart County High School
"The
four cadets I sent to J-LEAD captured the synergy of what
it means to function as a team. They also learned the importance
of vision, long-range and short-range planning. They themselves
were impressed with the cadre and facilities at North Georgia
to the extent that 2 of the 4 are planning to apply and compete
for 4-year scholarships. I will be sending at least 4 more
cadets to J-LEAD again next summer!"
Roger J. Barros
LTC, U.S. Army (Ret.)
Columbus High School (Blue Devils) Army JROTC
"J-LEAD
2005 was an exceptional leadership camp for our cadet team.
Feedback from them was very positive with their recommendation
that we continue to send a command/staff team every year.
The real bottom line to what I see them bringing back is the
emphasis on teamwork, good coordination and effective communication
skills. We started sending a team with the first iteration
of J-LEAD. The mix of mental and physical activities makes
it work. The Bn Cdr, XO, S-3 and CSM is a real good mix to
get them prepared for their senior year. We only send upcoming
seniors to J-LEAD. 3 of 4 of our participants have also expressed
strong interest in coming to NGCSU. I am personally following
up on that. Looking forward to next year!"
