Colonel Bruce Georgia was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant
of Field Artillery from Georgia Military College, in June
1983. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
from Kennesaw State University and a Masters in National Security
& Policy from the Air War College.
He is a graduate of the Artillery Officer Basic Course, Artillery
Officer Advanced Course, Rotary Wing Aviator Course, AH-64
Qualification Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School,
U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Army Force
Management School and the Air War College.
Colonel Georgia’s past unit assignments include Fire
Control Officer, Support Platoon Leader, Swäbisch Gmund,
Germany; Battalion S-1, Assistant Brigade S-3, Company Commander,
Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Brigade HHC Commander, Southwest
Asia and Fort Bragg; Recroder, DA Secretariat for Selection
Boards, HRC; Battalion S-3 and Battalion XO, Fort Campbell,
Kentucky; Army Staff Officer, PA & E Pentagon; XO, DA
Secretariat for Selection Boards and Colonels Assignment Officer,
Aviation Branch, HRC; Task Force Falcon Aviation Commander,
Battalion Commander, 1st Bn. 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Infantry
Division; Air War College, and Deputy Brigade Commander for
U.S. Army Recruiting Command’s 2d Brigade. COL Georgia
assumed command as Battalion Commander and Professor of Military
Science at North Georgia College & State University on
18 April 2005.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal,
Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement
Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service
Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Saudi Arabia/Kuwait Liberation
Medal, Kuwait/Kuwait Liberation Medal, Air Assault badge,
Airborne badge and the Senior Aviator badge.
Colonel Georgia is married to the former Andi Painter of
Smyrna, Georgia. They have one daughter and two sons, Megan,
Zack, and Evan.
