TIME TRIALS PREP NGCSU CROSS COUNTRY TEAM FOR 2004 SEASON
Dahlonega, Ga. – The Saints cross country team geared up for the first race of the season today as they participated in the Dawsonville Time Trials at Dawson Creek Park.
The women's team was lead by junior Irina Watkins (Varkaus, Finland) who ran the four kilometer course in 14:41. Junior Anna Roller (Commerce, Ga.) finished second in the trial with a time of 18:58 followed by sophomore Maricola Jacobo (Dalton, Ga.) who ran 19:15 and freshman Patricia Faulkner (Kennesaw, Ga.) who ran 20:15.
On the men's side, junior Kelly Parr (Maysville, Ga.) took first place with a time of 19:44 in the six kilometer race. Finishing second and third was freshman Matt Ueltzen (Blairsville, Ga.) and sophomore Bryan Harris (Cleveland, Ga.) who ran 22:41 and 22:54 respectively. Sophomore Joseph Register (Freeport, Fla.) and junior Matt Temples (Cumming, Ga.) rounded out the top five with times of 23:40 and 23:42.
Both the men's and women's team will head to Huntsville, Al. to run in the UAH Invitational on September 11. The women's race begins at 9:00 am with the men following at 9:45 am.
