NGCSU women's squad was once again led by junior Irina Watkins (Varkaus, Finland) who improved her time at the Clara Bowl 5k course and finished in seventh place in a time of 19:09.19. Sophomore Anna Roller (Commerce, Ga.) finished in a time of 23:07.20 and was 81st overall followed by freshman Tara Alexander (Grayson, Ga.) who had a personal best time of 23:38.47. Finishing in fourth and fifth place for the Saints was freshman Katie Inhulsen (Powder Springs, Ga.) and sophomore Maricela Jacobo (Dalton, Ga.) in times of 23:54.87 and 24:10.78.
In the men's 8k, junior Kelly Parr (Maysville, Ga.) led the team with a personal best time of 28:22.69 and 39th place overall. Coming in second and third for the team was freshman Matthew Ueltzen (Blairsville, Ga.) and sophomore Bryan Harris (Cleveland, Ga.) with times of 28:42.62 and 29:07.83 and in 51st and 59th place. Freshman Alan Schmitz (Warner Robins, Ga.) ran a strong race and finished 62nd overall in a time of 29:15.86. Rounding out the top five Saints was junior Matt Temples (Cumming, Ga.) who posted his best time of the year and completed the course in 29:26.89 in 65th place.
Berry College's David Kawa was the first runner to cross the finish line in a time of 25:20.30, helping the Vikings win the men's race. Allison Kreutzer took home the women's title in a time of 17:50.27 and Kennesaw State University won the women's race. |
