CAPPY LEADS NORTH GEORGIA TO PEACH BELT VICTORY
Cappy scored two goals to lead the Lady Saints
Americus, GA – Lauren Cappy scored a pair of goals to lead the North Georgia College & State University Lady Saints to a decisive 5-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern State University, enabling the Lady Saints to pick up their first Peach Belt Conference victory of the year.
Cappy scored the game's first goal in the 28th minute, taking a cross from Kelly Orear and heading into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
The game stayed that way into halftime, and for the first two minutes of the second half. The Lady Saints got their second goal when Cappy scored on a breakaway in the 48th minute.
Brittany Bruner put the Lady Saints up 3-0 in the 60th minute, following up a misplay by the Georgia Southwestern (1-4-0, 0-4 PBC) defense.
The Lady Saints added two more goals, with Jessica Williams adding one in the 68th minute and Lauren Hughes in the 79th minute.
Mary Canon Williams and Leigha Terry recorded the shutout for North Georgia, who outshot Georgia Southwestern 24-9.
North Georgia (3-4-1, 1-2 PBC) returns to action on Saturday, hosting UNC Pembroke.
