BRUNER LEADS TRIO NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Bruner, Cappy and Orear all named to team
Augusta, GA - Junior midfielder Brittany Bruner was named to the Peach Belt Conference women's soccer All-Conference team released this morning. Sophomore forward Lauren Cappy and junior midfielder Kelly Orear were named to the team as At-Large Selections.
Bruner was a steady force for the Lady Saints, controlling play in the midfield and scoring one goal and adding one assist this season. Cappy finished the season as the third-leading scorer in the conference with 11 goals, while Orear finished in the top five in assists with five on the season.
They become the second and third players in North Georgia College & State University to be named to the women's all-conference team.
Kristin Burton of Armstrong Atlantic State University was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, while USC Aiken's Susan Vodicka was named the Coach of the Year.
The remainder of the team includes forwards Burton, Melanie Cobb of UNC Pembroke, Gina Goforth of Columbus State and Nkese Udoh of Clayton State. The midfield includes Bruner, Donna Cheyne of Armstrong Atlantic State University, Melissa Schnoering of USC Aiken and Lyndsi Stricklen of Armstrong Atlantic State University. The goalkeepers include Monica Sanchez of Columbus State and Diana Wabnitz of USC Upstate. The defenders are Jessica Chipple of Armstrong Atlantic State University and a trio of Columbus State players, Sarah Hawkins, Megan Honig and Judith Ospina.
The at-large selections include Cappy, Orear, Brittney Broines of USC Upstate, Natasha DaCosta of USC Aiken, Veronica Lewis of USC Upstate, Lindsey Mann of USC Aiken, Amaka Ofuani of Armstrong Atlantic State University, Yasemin Sunbul of Clayton State and Rachel Walthall of Columbus State.
