North Georgia (3-11-2) jumped out to an early lead in the first half after sophomore midfielder Kelly Orear slipped the ball to freshman forward Elizabeth Franklin who netted her ninth goal of the season to put the Lady Saints up 1-0. Six minutes later, Franklin broke away and scooted the ball past a defender to Williams for her first goal of the evening.
With a 2-0 lead, the Lady Saints continued to press the Lady Night Hawks defense. Three minutes into the second half, Williams struck again after freshman midfielder Jesse Hall fed the ball to Franklin who in turn found Williams for the score. Sophomore forward Kim Willard scored the final goal of the match in the 76th minute after a triple fake around the defense and a strong shot.
North Georgia out-shot TU 18-6 and held a 10-4 shots-on-goal advantage. Sophomores Kelly Conarro and Mary Canon-Williams split time in goal for the shutout and made two saves each. Lady Night Hawks freshman goalkeeper Kim Firth took the loss, but did tally six saves.
Thomas University concludes their season 0-15-1 while the Lady Saints will await the outcome of this weekends Peach Belt Conference matches to see who they will face in the upcoming tournament beginning on November 1. |
