NGCSU AND USC-AIKEN PLAY TO A 1-1 DRAW IN
LADY PACERS SEAON OPENER

Aiken, S.C. – Sophomore Natasha DaCosta's goal with less than six minutes left in regulation allowed the USC Aiken women's soccer team to tie North Georgia College & State University in the Lady Pacers' 2004 season opener, today at “Pacer Pit” on the USCA campus. The two teams played two 10-minute overtime periods but neither squad could break the 1-1 tie.

After both teams went scoreless in the first period, Jessica Williams got the Lady Saints on the board 13 minutes into the second frame. Meredith Lee assisted on Williams' third goal of the season.

DaCosta's goal came at the 84:20 mark and beat the North Georgia keeper from 15 yards out. Melissa Schnoering led the Lady Pacers with four shots.

Senior Shannon Hobbs played all 110 minutes in goal for USC Aiken. She faced 11 shots, three of which were on goal, and made two saves. Kelly Conarro started in net for the Lady Saints but left after 75 minutes due to an injury. She made three saves. Tracey Hall saved one shot and allowed the tying goal in 34 minutes of relief work.

North Georgia returns to action no Tuesday as they travel to Waleska to take on Reinhardt College in a SSAC match at 4:00 p.m.  The Lady Pacers will play again on Monday when they travel to face Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C., at 4:00 p.m.
