LADY SAINTS SET CAREER-HIGHS IN VICTORY
Win evens Peach Belt Conference record at 2-2
Dahlonega, GA – Megan Huffman and Lindsey Kitchens each set career-highs as North Georgia College & State University cruised to an 85-52 Peach Belt Conference victory over Georgia Southwestern State University at Memorial Hall Saturday afternoon.
Huffman paced the Lady Saints with 28 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the floor, and 2-for-5 from behind the arc. She scored 20 of her 28 points in the first half, keying a 42-28 advantage at intermission. The mark broke the old high of 27 set against Brewton-Parker March 5 in the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament.
Meanwhile, Kitchens set the pace with her assists as she set a new career-high with 11 assists. The record breaks her previous high of nine set earlier this season.
They were not the only Lady Saints to post double digits.
Freshman center Porsha White posted 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while sophomore Syretha Marble and junior Rachael Jolley added 10 points. Junior forward Kourtney Singleton grabbed 12 rebounds in the victory.
North Georgia shot 51.6 (32-for-62) percent from the floor, and 26.3 (5-for-19) percent from behind the arc. The Lady Saints shot 76.2 (16-for-21) percent from the free throw line.
Meanwhile, the Lady 'Canes shot just 34.4 (21-for-61) percent from the floor, and 15.4 (2-for-13) percent from behind the arc. They shot 61.5 (8-for-13) percent from the free throw line.
Brynne Calloway paced Georgia Southwestern (2-9, 0-4 PBC) with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Brittany Reynolds added 10 points and six rebounds.
North Georgia (7-7, 2-2 PBC) returns to action Monday against UNC Pembroke at 2 pm. The game will take place at Memorial Hall.
