LADY SAINTS CRUISE 78-59 OVER LADY PACERS FOR NINTH STRAIGHT WIN

Dahlonega, Ga. – Three North Georgia College & State University players scored in double figures to lead the Lady Saints to a 78-59 win over visiting USC Aiken Saturday afternoon in Memorial Gymnasium. Thus far, North Georgia has not lost a contest in the new year.

Points were few and far between in the opening minutes of the game as the Lady Saints (16-3, 12-0) and Lady Pacers (8-9, 4-6) struggled to find the nylon. North Georgia had a 7-0 lead over USCA six minutes into the game until freshman guard Kendra Chandler knocked down a free throw to give the Lady Pacers their first point of the game. The scoring quickly picked up with the Lady Saints going on a 14-11 run over the next nine minutes. North Georgia went up by 10 points, 29-19, at the 3:33 mark off of a three from sophomore guard Megan Huffman. As the half wound down, USCA was able to cut the lead to 12 off of a pair of free throws from freshman forward Satu Leppanen. The Lady Saints were able to push the lead to 15 off of a jumper from senior guard Katie Williamson to enter the locker room up 37-22.

North Georgia took its lead to as much as 18 in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Lady Pacers would not go quietly. Sophomore forward Jordon Thomas jetted down the court for a lay-up to cut the Lady Saints lead to 52-41. North Georgia then went on a 12-2 run, capped off with a pair of free throws from senior post Jeanine Dorminey, to go up 64-43. USCA was not able to get any closer than 19 for the remainder of the ball game as the Lady Saints cruised to the 78-59 victory.

Williamson and Huffman led the North Georgia attack with 15 points each. Freshman forward Syretha Marble poured in 12 points with six rebounds and four assists along with Dorminey who had a team high 11 rebounds with nine points.

Leppanen led all scorers with 21 points followed by junior point guard Mindy Allee who added 10 points. Sophomore guard Avonte Williams was all over the court for the Lady Pacers, tying a career high with 13 rebounds along with two steals and two assists.

Up next for the Lady Saints is a Wednesday game at home against Francis Marion University at 5:30 p.m. USCA will also play Wednesday night at home against Georgia College & State University.
