TRIO OF LADY SAINTS LEADS NORTH GEORGIA PAST FRANCIS MARION 69-56
Dorminey, Marble, and Seamon all score double-doubles

Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia senior posts Jeanine Dorminey and Lara Seamon along with freshman forward Syretha Marble scored in double figures in points and rebounds to run past Francis Marion 69-56 Wednesday evening. The Patriots set a new Peach Belt Conference blocked shot record tonight as they made 19 swats as a team, led by sophomore center Shavone Mack who set another PBC record with 12 blocks.

The 19 blocks by FMU broke the old record set by Kennesaw State University against GC&SU on January 26, 2005. Mack’s 12 blocks broke the record by one block set by Lauren Harris of KSU in that same game against GC&SU.

The Lady Saints (17-3, 13-0) held the Patriots (8-10, 6-6) to 25 points in the first half while scoring 40 to go ahead by 15 points. North Georgia took the lead early and climbed out to a 10-point lead with 6:51 remaining in the half. Seamon scored 11 points for the Lady Saints in the first frame while Dorminey brought down nine rebounds. FMU’s Shavone put on a block party in the first half, swatting five balls while leading the team with eight points.

Shavone was even better in the second half, knocking back seven more North Georgia shots and holding the best shooting team in the PBC to only 30 percent (24-for-80) shooting in the game. The Lady Saints hit enough shots in the second half to go ahead by as many as 20 points. North Georgia also forced 29 Patriot turnovers that converted into 31 points for the Lady Saints.

Seamon led all scorers with 17 points while hauling in 12 rebounds. Her frontcourt counterpart Dorminey grabbed 12 rebounds herself and added 13 points while Marble scored 15 points along with 10 rebounds. Senior guard Katie Williamson added 15 points off of 4-for-8 shooting and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Shavone led FMU with 16 points and a career high 12 blocks. Sophomore guard Renee Guilliams was the only other Patriot in double figures with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Both North Georgia and FMU will challenge UNC Pembroke in their next game. The Lady Saints will travel to Pembroke to play the Lady Braves first this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. while the Patriots will get their chance next Monday at home.
