FIVE VOTES FOR LADY SAINTS IN THIS WEEK’S NATIONAL POLL
Dahlonega, Ga. – The North Georgia College & State University women's basketball team received five votes in this week's USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released by the WBCA.
The Lady Saints have continued to dominate the competition in the Peach Belt Conference this season and finished the first half of conference play with a perfect 10-0 record. North Georgia is also on a seven game winning streak heading into tonight’s game against Augusta State University. The Lady Saints have defeated all but one PBC opponent by 10 points or more thus far and have a 14-3 overall record this season.
Clayton State slipped a spot in this week’s poll, falling from 21st to 22nd with 86 points. UNC Pembroke, who was ranked number one in the NCAA South Atlantic Region last week, received 14 votes this week.
Washburn University continues to be number one in the nation with an 18-0 overall record and 22 first place votes. Equally impressive is second ranked North Dakota who is 22-0 and took three first place votes this week. Rounding out the top five is Emporia State, Saint Cloud State, and Drury.
The USA Today ESPN Board of Coaches is made up of 27 head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
