Camp director and head women's basketball coach Buffie Burson said, “The campers have been so involved with having fun playing basketball this week, I believe they have been oblivious to the weather!”
Campers age 7-18 will work each day on their dribbling, passing, and shooting skills and then break into teams as they use their skills in a daily basketball tournament. Head coach Burson and her conference champion team not only team teach skills, but also make sure each camper learns how to be a team player and promote fair play.
Brooke Helton , a 10-year old from Cleveland, Ga., says her favorite part of the camp is “being able to meet new people and just having fun.” “I love the defensive station with coach Morry because he makes us work hard,” adds Morgan Chapman from Dahlonega, Ga. who has attended the camp for the past four years.
The North Georgia athletic department will continue to host camps for the remainder of the summer. Next week, the Saints will take to the diamond as the baseball team will host baseball camp starting on Sunday. The camp is $350 for overnight campers and $250 for day campers ages 10-18.
