#15 LADY SAINTS FLY PAST LADY HAWKS 80-49

Rome, Ga. – Using a 42 point first half, the 15 th ranked Lady Saints of North Georgia College & State University ran past the Lady Hawks of Shorter College 80-49 Thursday night in the Winthrop-King Center.

Jumping out to an 18-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game, North Georgia (19-7, 15-2) was in control of the contest from the very beginning. The Lady Saints lit the hoop up in the first half, shooting 58% (18-for-31) from the field and 56% (5-for-9) from behind the arc. The only area of shooting North Georgia struggled in was from the free throw line. The Saints only hit one-of-seven free throws in the first half, but managed to shoot 61% for the game after going 16-for-21 in the second.

SC (13-13, 7-10) struggled from the field in the first half, only making 3-of-34 shots in the first and 16-for-64 for the game. With only one player in double-figures, senior forward Kerri Sparks (Canton, Ga.) with 17 points, it was a tough night for the Lady Hawks to score.

For the Lady Saints, junior guard Katie Williamson (Suwanee, Ga.) led six North Georgia players with 15 points, followed by freshman guard Megan Huffman (Woodstock, Ga.) with 14 points. Sophomore forward Jenica Johnson (Lilburn, Ga.) added 13 points with senior guard Katie Schleisman (Suwanee, Ga.) and junior forward Jeanine Dorminey (Tifton, Ga.) adding 12 points each. Senior forward Brandi Owen (Cornelia, Ga.) rounded out the scoring with 10 points.

Both teams play again this weekend in conference as the Lady Saints host Southern Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m. in Dahlonega and SC welcomes Auburn University Montgomery this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
