#1 LADY SAINTS ADVANCE TO SSAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

Rome, Ga. – After being up by 21 at the half, #1 seed North Georgia College & State University advanced to the championship game of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament after defeating #4 Lee University 86-74.

The Lady Saints (24-7) limited the Lady Flames (23-11) to only 20.6% shooting for the first half and junior's Katie Williamson (Suwanee, Ga.) and Jeanine Dorminey (Tifton, Ga.) scored 12 points each in the first half while Dorminey grabbed 14 rebounds to score a double-double by the water break.

In the second half, freshman guard Jan Dodson (Mayfield, Ky.) knocked down a three point shot to cut the North Georgia lead to 74-65 with 2:15 left to play in the game. The Lady Flames were down by single digits in the closing minutes of the game, but were unable to get any closer than 12 as the Lady Saints hit 12 free throws in the final minutes of the game.

Five North Georgia players scored in double digits with senior Brandi Owen (Cornelia, Ga.) leading the way with 22 points. Dorminey finished with 20 points and 18 rebounds followed by Williamson with 19 points and eight rebounds. Freshman guard Megan Huffman (Woodstock, Ga.) scored 14 points to round out the top scorers.

Senior forward Stacy Felchner (Scottsville, Ky.) led the Lady Flames with 20 points followed by freshman guard Jessica Still (Owensboro, Ky.) with 14 points with Dodson adding 12 points.

North Georgia will look to win its third consecutive conference championship Saturday evening as they take on #2 Brewton-Parker College in the championship game at 6:00 p.m. in the Ford Gymnasium.
