#13 LADY SAINTS DRIVE PAST LADY CANES 84-44
Dahlonega, Ga. – The 13 th ranked Lady Saints of North Georgia College & State University had an offensive explosion after their loss Saturday as they defeated the Lady Canes of Georgia Southwestern State University 84-44 in Memorial Gymnasium.
Georgia Southwestern (5-19, 1-14) got the first bucket of the game off of a lay-up from junior guard Lola Farley (Columbus, Ga.), but did not see the lead for the remainder of the game. The North Georgia (17-7, 13-2) offense attacked the Lady Canes defense all night and had a double-digit lead six minutes into the game. A couple of made free throws by freshman guard Megan Huffman (Woodstock, Ga.) before the end of the half gave North Georgia a 26 point lead going into the second half. The Lady Saints shot 17-for-33 (52%) from the field and 7-for-13 (54%) from behind the three-point line. GSW struggled from the floor in the first on shot only 9-for-29 (31%) from the floor and 1-for-7 (14%) from the arc. In the second half, North Georgia continued to dominate on the offensive side of the court as they scored 37 points in the half. Senior guard Katie Schleisman (Suwanee, Ga.) and Huffman led the attack with 16 points each in the game. Junior guard Katie Williamson (Suwanee, Ga.) also tossed in 15 points and five assists. The Lady Canes were led by Farley and junior forward Arlicia McCain (Riverdale, Ga.) who each had 14 points apiece. Sophomore center Allana Alexander (Atlanta, Ga.) had a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards for GSW.
