NGCSU OVERPOWERS AUM 62-43 IN
SSAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ACTION
Montgomery, Ala. - Megan Huffman paced a trio of Lady Saints in double figures, as North Georgia defeated the Auburn University Montgomery Lady Senators 62-43 at the Physical Education Complex Saturday afternoon.
Huffman led the way with 20 points, while Katie Williamson added 16 and Brandi Owen 11 in the victory.
Huffman and Williamson combined for 29 of the Lady Saints 35 first half points, as the Lady Saints ran to a 35-19 advantage in the first 20 minutes of play.
North Georgia (9-6, 5-1 SSAC) shot 48.9 (23-for-47) percent from the floor, after shooting 50 percent in the second half. The Lady Saints shot just 25 (3-for-12) percent from behind the three-point line and 81.3 (13-for-16) from the free throw line.
AUM shot just 30.4 (17-for-56) from the floor, while shooting just 16.7 (2-for-12) from behind the three-point line.
AUM won the battle of the boards, as they outrebounded North Georgia 36-28.
Jessica Weathers was the lone Lady Senator in double figures with 12 points.
AUM (8-5, 2-3 SSAC), losers of three-out-of-their-last-four games, return to action on Monday as they travel to Waleska, Ga. to take on Reinhardt College. The Lady Saints will return to action tonight as they take on Shorter College at home at 6:00 p.m.
