KITCHENS, MARBLE, AND TAYLOR
2005 RECRUITING CLASS FOR LADY SAINTS BASKETBALL
Dahlonega, Ga. – Buffie Burson , 12th year head women's basketball coach, announced today that Lindsey Kitchens , Syretha Marble , and Lindsay Taylor will join the North Georgia College & State University women's basketball team this season.
Kitchens is a 5-8 guard from North Hall High School in Gainesville, Ga. This past season she was the team MVP and led the team in steals during her sophomore and senior seasons. In 2004, she was selected to the Lanierland All-Tournament team, Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament team, and named Tip-Off Classic MVP.
A two-sports letter winner, Kitchens broke 11 school records in softball her junior year and was a member of the NHHS team that finished second in the state in AAA.
Marble is a 5-10 forward from Sequoyah High School in Woodstock, Ga. A four year starter on the varsity team, she was named Player of the Year by the Cherokee Tribune and Atlanta Journal Constitution her junior and senior years. She scored over 1000 points in her high school career and grabbed 530 rebounds and 268 steals. In her senior season, she led the team to the Region Championship and the Sweet 16 in the state finals and was named Region Player of the Year.
A member of the National Honor Society, Marble also excelled in Volleyball and was named Player of the Year by the Cherokee Tribune and Atlanta Journal Constitution her senior year.
Taylor is a 5-10 guard from Marietta High School in Marietta, Ga. Taylor averaged nine ppg and eight rpg as a four year starter for MHS. She was a recipient of the Kennesaw State University Bobbie Bailey Award for Athletic Excellence and the David C. Heater Leadership Award. This past season, Taylor led her team to the Region Championship and the Elite Eight of the state playoffs and was Honorable Mention on the Atlanta Journal Constitution All-State team two years in a row.
A two-sports letter winner and member of the National Honor Society, Taylor was team MVP for all four seasons at MHS and broke the schools scoring record as a freshman in soccer.
Coach Burson said of this year's class, “This is a great recruiting class to lead us into the Peach Belt. All three are excellent student/athletes who will do well on the court and in the classroom.”
