LADY SAINTS MOVE UP TO #14 IN NAIA POLL
Dahlonega, Ga. - The North Georgia College & State University women's basketball team jumped three spots to #14 in the latest national ranking posted by the NAIA.
This past week, the Lady Saints defeated #22 Lee University 72-63 and improved to 13-6 overall and are still tied for the top spot in the Southern States Athletic Conference with a 9-1 coference record. North Georgia's only loss in 2005 has come against second ranked Union University. The Lady Saints are averaging 80.8 points per game during a six game win streak that began on January 6.
Union University lost its first game of the year and slipped to second place for the first time all season. Vanguard, which had been second for the past five weeks, moved into the number one spot and received 11 of the 12 possible first place votes. SSAC rival Brewton-Parker College remaind at tenth overall and Lee University moved up on spot to 21st. Auburn University Montgomery also received 10 votes for the top-25.
North Georgia will play again this Thursday as they host Reinhardt College at 6:00 p.m. and then travel to Southern Polytechnic State University to play the Lady Hornets on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
