SAINTS BASKETBALL LISTED AMONG NAIA LEADERS
Dahlonega, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University men's and women's basketball teams are listed among the NAIA leaders in the latest statistics announced this week.
For the women's basketball team, junior guard Katie Williamson (Suwanee, Ga.) is ranked number one in free throw percentage and 19th in assists per game. Williamson is shooting 98.2% (56-57) from the line and averages 4.67 assists per game. Senior post Brandi Owen (Cornelia, Ga.) is 15th in the nation in scoring (18 ppg) and 16th in offensive rebounds (3.30 rpg) per game. Junior post Jeanine Dorminey (Tifton, Ga.) is also listed 11th in blocks (1.75 bpg) and 16th in defensive rebounds (5.75). The Lady Saints are third in the nation in free throw percentage with 77.4%, tied for ninth in defensive field goal percentage with 35.4%, and ninth in total rebounds per game with 43.25.
For the men's team, sophomore guard Matt Causey (Gainesville, Ga.) is ranked 18th in free throw percentage and seventh in assists in the nation. Matt is has made 85% (51-60) of his free throws and averages 6.4 assists per game. His brother, junior guard Mark Causey (Gainesville, Ga.), is tied for 16th in the nation in steals with 2.4 steals per game. Sophomore post Mark Trust (Winder, Ga.) is also listed tied for eighth in blocks with 1.9 blocks per game. The Saints basketball team is currently ranked 16th in the nation in scoring offense with 86.0 points per game and ninth in the nation in free throw percentage with 74.2%.
The Lady Saints are currently 7-6 overall after losing to #1 Union University last night 84-77. The Saints are currently 7-6 after falling to #4 Lindsey Wilson College 81-79 yesterday. Both the men and women will play again this weekend against Georgia Southwestern State University on January 6 at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
