SAINTS DROP DOUBLEHEADER TO CANES
North Georgia will play home finale Sunday afternoon

DAHLONEGA, GA - North Georgia College & State University dropped a doubleheader to Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon, falling 9-5 in game, and 6-5 in game two as the Saints held their annual Cancer Awareness Day at the Softball Complex.

In game one, North Georgia jumped on top with single runs in the first five innings. Tiffany Blackburn and Courtney McGuire notched solo home runs to lead the charge.

GSW (19-27, 4-14 PBC) responded in the fourth with three runs on a Emily Oglesby bases loaded triple. The Canes would add two runs in each of the last three innings, including a two-run home run by Jesse Croft to give GSW a 9-5 game one win.

In game two, North Georgia jumped on top again with a run in the second and three runs in the third inning. McGuire led off the second inning with her second home run of the day, another solo long ball to left field. In the third, Kaelin Farrington drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, and Kim Stercay singled to plate another run and make it 4-0.

The Canes came back in the fourth with three runs on only two hits and the benefit of two North Georgia errors. Heather Chambers provided a sacrifice fly in the sixth to plate a run, and Amanda Howett brought two more runs home in the seventh with a single through the right side to give the visiting Hurricanes a 6-5 game two win.

North Georgia (29-11, 10-8 PBC) will host senior day Sunday afternoon against Belmont Abbey with a doubleheader scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
