SAINTS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH 2ND-RANKED GCSU
North Georgia moves to 11-1 at home

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University got a game one 2-0 win for their third straight shutout backed by a one-hit masterpiece from Sarah Phillips, but fell 6-2 in the nightcap against 2nd-ranked GCSU Saturday evening in Peach Belt Conference action.
In game one, freshman Sarah Phillips went to the mound and tossed another gem, holding the second-ranked Bobcats to just one hit in another complete game. Phillips recorded 10 strikeouts and faced two over the minimum for her tenth complete game of the season.
North Georgia picked up their two runs in the fourth inning on a pair of hits and the benefit of three Bobcat errors. With the bases loaded, Jessica Skeels reached on a fielders choice but an error brought Courtney McGuire and Heidi Cranford home for the only runs of the game.
GCSU's Mandy Chandler (13-3) suffered the loss, pitching all six innings and allowing just four hits and two unearned runs while striking out seven.
In game two, the Bobcats pushed their first run of the afternoon across in the opening inning as the Saints committed two errors in the frame. GCSU came right back in the fourth inning and put a four spot on the board courtesy of four hits, including a double by Chelsea Wilson to plate two runs for a 5-0 lead.
North Georgia would push a run across in the bottom of the inning as Kaelin Farrington singled the other way to bring Leslee Smith home and make it 5-1. The Saints would add another single run in the fifth off Tiffany Blackburn's team leading seventh home run of the year as she planted the ball well past the fence in left center to make it 5-2. The Bobcats would make it 6-2 with a Sherquita Bostick home run as she had four hits in as many tries to lead her team to a four-run win in the nightcap.
Tonya Medders (10-2) picked up the win, going four innings and allowing one run while striking out a pair. Nicole Adkison (4-1) was tagged with her first loss of the year, pitching a complete game while being charged with eight hits and three earned runs.
North Georgia (20-6, 5-3 PBC) will hit the road for a pair of games at Augusta State University Tuesday, March 25, with a doubleheader scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
