SAINTS PLACE THREE ON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Blackburn brings home Freshman of the Year honor as well

FLORENCE, SC – After a comeback win to advance in the PBC tournament, three Saints were named to the Peach Belt All-Conference team. Tiffany Blackburn was awarded Freshman of the Year honors, while Laura Voyles and Courtney McGuire were named All-Conference at a banquet on the campus of Francis Marion University Friday evening.

Blackburn becomes the third PBC freshman of the year awarded to a North Georgia athlete in as many years after hitting .448, blasting 10 home runs, driving in 41 runs, and striking out just three times in 105 at-bats. Blackburn was also named to the PBC All-Conference team and was joined by teammates Laura Voyles and Courtney McGuire.

Voyles received the award after a sophomore campaign that saw her hit .432, score 35 runs, and record a team high 60 hits. She started every game for the Saints in 2008 and launched six home runs while driving in 25 runs.

McGuire was also named to the team as a sophomore after playing and starting every game for the Saints in 2008. She recorded a .364 batting average and was second on the club in home runs with seven and runs batted in with 29. McGuire had 48 hits on the season, including a team-leading 17 doubles.

The three PBC All-Conference performers will look to lead their club to North Georgia's first ever Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA regional bid as the softball tournament moves forward tomorrow afternoon and concludes Sunday.
